(I have all these previous posts queued up waiting for pictures and haven't gotten around to adding them yet. Will backpost them later.)
We tried allowing Nathan to sleep without being swaddled in his crib again last night.
We tried last week with limited success. He would wake up every 1.5 to 2 hours. The room wasn't prepped for feeding properly with just a plastic chair. Added to that, my shoulder and neck muscles were killing me. Needless to say, I was not a happy camper either.
We kept him in the bassinet for the rest of the week and tried again last night. Nathan slept from 10:30pm to 1:45am. Woke up to eat and was able to fall back asleep soon after. It was only 2am when I went back to bed! Unfortunately this is where it went downhill for me. I also went to sleep at 10:30pm but was unable to fall asleep. :(
Fast forward to 4am. Nathan wakes up again for a feed. I'm still up and haven't slept. He still goes back to sleep on his own but takes a little longer to settle and stay asleep.
4:45am Steve and I are now both wide awake at this point. Sigh. And now hungry. Luckily my mom made noodles and kept a stock in the fridge. We munched on it happily.
5:40am Back to bed. I am still lying there wondering why I'm so awake.
6:00am Nathan wakes up to eat again. He's sleeping progressively less and less between feeds. I'm up anyway so I go feed him. Nathan also able to fall asleep on his own and did not take too long to settle! Afterwards it's only then that I could sleep.
7:30am Nathan wakes up crying. Me, super tired now and therefore convinced it must only be a dirty diaper. Steve volunteers to check and it was. Whew! I pass out a this point.
8:30am Nathan acted like he was hungry but didn't eat much and subsequently went into crazy werewolf mode with lots of crying and kicking. Back to the swaddle.
Turns out he was just tired and couldn't settle.
I think it went better but definitely lots of room for improvement. I need to learn the fall asleep quickly from him. And he needs to stay asleep longer. And maybe not go into crazy werewolf mode.
He's passed out next to me now. Think I'll go catch up on some sleep too.
